It is highly recommended that you read a little German often during the holiday break!
Do some Internet surfing, read some German papers.
Start here if you'd like to check out some German sites.
Click on "Cool FL Links" in the list on the left of the page you will see.

It would be a very good idea to review all chapters we have covered
before you come back in January for best results in 102.

Internet assignments (see yellow boxes in syllabus above) will be largely exploratory and are meant to encourage you to use your German skills via the web. Ever try out a German chat room, for instance!? There are tons of information sources out there in German--the second-most common language on the Internet besides English. And even if you can't afford a plane ticket, you can go on a virtual tour of zillions of places in German-speaking lands right in the comfort of your own computer chair. You can find as many pen pals as you wish on the Internet and develop a rapport with someone who might become your lifelong friend. And who knows? You might even be able to arrange visits in each other's country!

See Dr. Holtman for information about study in Germany on Mansfield University's new exchange program with the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität in Jena! The FSU web site offers information in German or English, including links to tourist attractions and photos of Jena and surroundings. You will love it--and even more in person!

GERMAN REALLY IS FUN--WITH A PAYOFF! IT GIVES YOU AN OPPORTUNITY TO COMMUNICATE, EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS, GAIN A COMPETITIVE EDGE ON THE JOB MARKET, SHARPEN YOUR THINKING SKILLS AND PREPARE YOURSELF FOR GRADUATE WORK OR TRAVEL.

STEADY, CONSISTENT PRACTICE WILL ENSURE YOUR SUCCESS!
