What to expect at your audition for the Mansfield University Flute Studio:
Your audition is your chance to play for me. I also try to give a mini-lesson for it is also your opportunity to see me and get an idea of what lessons with me might be like.
Plan to play:
Scales
You will make the most favorable impression if you know major and minor scales, 2 octaves.
I like to hear them slurred to hear how clean finger movement is.
Repertoire
Have at least 2 contrasting pieces, or movements of a piece, prepared. These should demonstrate tone quality, good rhythm, technique, articulation, musical expression, etc.
Sight Reading
If time permits you will be given a short sight reading example
