Curriculum Action Notice

From:

Academic Affairs Committee

Date:

November 1, 2000

This is a bulletin from the Academic Affairs Committee concerning proposed curriculum actions. Within the next 10 days, please forward any comments or concerns to the AAC Chair, Lynn Pifer. Belknap Hall 05, x4384,  lpifer@mnsfld.edu.

The following is a proposed change in the IM2000 General Education Proposal.

Add PHL 380 Health Care Ethics to Block I Humanities.

Rationale for adding PHL 380 Health Care Ethics:

  1. This course addresses the student outcomes for the block in the same way as PHL 340 Ethics does and that course is already approved for this block.
  2. PHL 380 has no prerequisites and is consistent with the student learning outcomes and purpose statement for the Humanities block.
  3. This course covers a broad range of ethical principles and moral theory.

Add BSC 122 Human Anatomy and Physiology II to Block 4 Natural Sciences.

Rationale for adding BSC 122 Human Anatomy and Physiology II:

  1. This course has no prerequisites.
  2. It is a freestanding course. Students can take it prior to BSC 121 Anatomy and Physiology I, and they are still eligible to take it after failing BSC 121.
  3. It fulfills the student outcomes and purpose statement for Block 4 in the same way that BSC 121 does.
