Curriculum Action Notice

From:

Academic Affairs Committee

Date:

January 26, 2001

This is a bulletin from the Academic Affairs Committee concerning proposed curriculum actions. Within the next 10 days, please forward any comments or concerns to the AAC Chair, Lynn Pifer. Belknap Hall 05, x4384,  lpifer@mnsfld.edu.

The following Program Changes have been proposed by RP Health Sciences:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

Changes:

Decrease credits required for graduation from 131 to 123

Move cognate courses from right side of ER to left side of ER, which is consistent with the new General Education model.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (RN-BSN)

Changes:

Decrease credits required for graduation from 132 to 123

Move cognate courses from right side of ER to left side of ER, which is consistent with the new General Education model.

Rationale for the changes:

The decrease in credits required for graduation will not change any current program requirements. This change will facilitate students' ability to complete the nursing program within four years (or 8 to 10 semesters of part-time study). It will also help bring our program graduation requirements in line with those of other area and Commonwealth nursing programs.
