Date:

February 2, 2001

This is a bulletin from the Academic Affairs Committee concerning proposed curriculum actions. Within the next 10 days, please forward any comments or concerns to the AAC Chair, Lynn Pifer. Belknap Hall 05, x4384,  lpifer@mnsfld.edu.

The following Program Change Proposals have been proposed by the Department of Health Sciences:

PROGRAM CHANGE:

A.A.S. degree in Radiology Technology

Change: No change in the program or degree. The proposed change is to add MA 128 to the evaluation record list of math electives available to radiology technology majors.

Rationale: MA 128 meets the needs of radiology technology majors. The college algebra course content is applied within program courses and has consistently been a weak area for the students.

Effect on other programs: 10-12 additional students per year may be requesting this course.

PROGRAM CHANGE:

A.A.S. degree in Respiratory Therapy

Change: The proposed change is to add MA 128 to the evaluation record list of math electives available to respiratory therapy majors.

Rationale: MA 128 College Algebra best meets the needs of the majority of respiratory therapy students in that the course content is frequently applied in several respiratory therapy courses and best defines the level of math skills required in the curriculum for clinical practice. It is common for students admitted to the respiratory therapy program to be weak in this area of mathematics.

Effect on other programs: 10-12 additional students per year may be requesting this course.
