Curriculum Action Notice

This is a bulletin from the Academic Affairs Committee concerning proposed curriculum actions. Within the next 10 days, please forward any comments or concerns to the AAC Chair, Helen Biblehimer, Elliott Hall 203, ext. 4521, hbiblehi@mnsfld.edu.

The following curricular actions have been requested by the Education and Special Education department:


#1 Action: Program Change: BSE Elementary Education

Rationale for change: Reduce required credits for completion of the Elementary Education BSE program from 128 credits to 120 credits as mandated by SSHE; Require ED 205,
Educational Psychology in the general education Social Sciences group.

List all changes:
The minimum credits required for graduation will be reduced to the mandated 120 credits. Educational Psychology will be required in general education Social Sciences group to be consistent with requirements in all teacher education programs.

#2 Action: Program Change: BSE Special Education

Rationale for change: Reduce required credits for completion of the Special Education BSE program from 128 credits to 120 credits as mandated by SSHE; Require ED 205, Educational Psychology in the general education Social Sciences group.

List all changes:

The minimum credits required for graduation will be reduced to the mandated 120 credits. Move ED 205 -Educational Psychology to the social sciences block of General Education and delete 3 credits of major related electives.
