This is a bulletin from the Academic Affairs Committee concerning proposed curriculum actions. Within the next 10 days, please forward any comments or concerns to the AAC Chair, Helen Biblehimer, Elliott Hall 203, ext. 4521,

The Department of Geography and Geology has requested the following curricular change:

Action: Program Change: BSE Earth and Space Science Education

Rationale for change:
Meeting the reduction in program credit hours mandated by the Chancellor. SSHE guidelines permit Professional programs to alter general education requirements to accommodate professional and accreditation requirements.
Based on this guideline, the general education requirements have been adjusted to meet the allotted number of credit hours while maintaining alignment with Pennsylvania Department of Education and other accreditation requirements.

List all changes:
PSY 3290 / 3321 is dropped as a program requirement
ED 2205 is moved to the Group 5 - Social Sciences block
GEG 1111 is moved to the Group 5 - Social Sciences block
A second math course, required for teacher certification, is added as a general education elective
Two hours of free electives

Total credit hours required: 126
