The department of Education and Special Education has requested the following curricular action:

New Program Proposal: Education Minor

Rationale for program:
Develop a minor in Education to serve students who change their majors from an education field to another major at an advanced stage in their programs; It may be anticipated that the PA mandated change to a 3.0 as a minimum requirement for student teaching and certification will result in more students leaving education for other majors

Description for the catalog:
The minor in Education provides an overview of the field of education and of the dynamics of teaching and learning.
ED 1102, Introduction to Education
ED 2205, Educational Psychology or ELE 2220, Child Development
SPE 3275, Inclusion of Diverse Learners
6 credits of 3000/4000 course work with any combination of ED, ELE, or SPE prefixes
