The Department of Education and Special Education and Art Education has requested the following curricular action:

Action:
New Course: ED/SPE 2255/4455/5555 Urban Education Seminar – Philadelphia.

Purpose and Nature of Course: To provide students with practical hands on experience in inner-city classrooms with communities whose culture and race may be different from their own.

Course Description for Catalog:
This course is a two week pre-student teaching field experience in the inner-city classrooms of Philadelphia, PA. Students will participate daily in a public school classroom in their field of study . In addition students will participate in community projects, attend professional development seminars, interact in learning forums with other pre-service teachers and visit historical and cultural areas.
