The Department of Communication and Theatre has requested the following curricular actions:

New Course: COM 2205 Interpreting Communication Research

Purpose and Nature of Course:
This course offers students basic information regarding research in the communication field. It replaces COM 2200 – Oral Interpretation as part of the core requirements for the Communication BS degree.

Course Description for Catalog:
This course examines communication research techniques, interpreting research results, and how to write about communication research. Forms of mass media research techniques including the use of surveys will be discussed. Techniques used in human communication research will also be reviewed.
Prerequisites: COM 1101 or permission of the instructor

Request that Course be considered for General Education Credit. Please check all applicable boxes.

Students will be required to identify examples of research appropriate to their area of emphasis, evaluate the research and demonstrate their understanding of the content through written submission.

Updating Communication Program

List all changes:
Delete COM 2200 from core program
Delete COM 4440 from core program
Add COM 2205 to core (new course in Communication Research – Replaces COM 2200)
Add COM 3336 to core (replaces COM 4440)
