Curricular Action Notice – Health Sciences

1.      New Course: HPE 1200 Personal & Community Health

Purpose and Nature of Course:  Change number and credits for HPE 1100 to: HPE 1200 Personal & Community Health , 3 credits

Rational: In its current form, the Personal and Community Health course fulfills 2 of the 3 credits of wellness. Students (due to limited faculty and course offerings) are then having great difficulty scheduling a 1 credit HPE course to fulfill the Wellness Block. Elevating this course to 3 credits will:

a.        Provide the students with 3 credits of Wellness requirements in one course offering, reducing the amount of courses necessary to complete the Wellness requirement when they enroll in HPE 1200.

b.      Provide a broader scope of topic areas not currently covered in the 2 credit course.

c.       Brings this course in line (credit wise) with the majority of courses in the Wellness Requirement Block.
